    Note: It is extremely important that you wear your compression garments to participate in the Zumba demo. I have been taking Mary's Zumba class for several months. As a leg lymphie, I adjust and improvise as necessary. And I do not hesitate to sit out a song when I need to.     We are an independent, unaffiliated, patient-organized support group. We are open to all people with lymphedema … women, men, teens, children accompanied by an adult.

    Statement of Purpose: As people with the disease of lymphedema, we meet to give each other emotional support by listening, sharing, being hopeful and using positive approaches to issues surrounding lymphedema. We ask that group participants keep confidentiality about shared personal information.

    We emphasize learning by acquiring and sharing resources and information about lymphedema and treatments. We do not give medical advice to each other or advocate specific treatments or practitioners.

    We support, advocate and promote:

    • Increased lymphedema awareness

    • Expanded research on lymphedema treatment.

    • Training of more lymphedema specialists and medical personnel

    • Required payment by medical insurance companies for therapy, equipment, medication and surgery for the treatment of lymphedema

    • Lymphedema Treatment Act -- www.lymphedematreatmentact.org
